To manually update Google Chrome on a desktop computer, click the three dots icon in the top-right corner, navigate to Help, and select About Google Chrome to automatically trigger the update download.
While Chrome usually downloads updates automatically in the background, you must periodically relaunch the browser to apply them. Click the “More” menu represented by the three vertical dots in the top-right corner. Hover over “Help” near the bottom of the drop-down menu.
Select “About Google Chrome” from the side menu that appears.
Wait for the check as Chrome automatically scans for and installs any available updates.
Click “Relaunch” once the update finishes downloading to restart your browser and complete the installation. Manually Update on Mobile Devices
Android: Open the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, select Manage apps & device, look under Updates available, and tap Update next to Google Chrome. Alternatively, if a pending update is ready inside Chrome, tap the Green/Yellow/Red Arrow icon that replaces the three dots menu to update directly.
iOS: Open the Apple App Store, tap your profile icon in the top right corner, scroll down to find pending updates, and tap Update next to the Google Chrome app. How to Recognize a Pending Update
If Chrome has already downloaded an update in the background but is waiting for you to restart the browser, the “More” (three dots) icon will change color: Green: An update has been available for 2 days. Orange: An update has been available for 4 days. Red: An update has been available for 7 days or more.
