MoveToDesktop is a lightweight, open-source utility designed to bridge a major workflow gap in Windows by allowing you to instantly send application windows to different virtual desktops using keyboard shortcuts. While Windows natively lets you switch between virtual desktops using Win + Ctrl + Left/Right Arrow, it forces you to use the slow, click-and-drag Task View menu (Win + Tab) just to move a window. How to Install MoveToDesktop

Because native Windows lacks direct keybindings for this feature, you will need to download the lightweight tool from GitHub.

Download the tool from the Eun / MoveToDesktop GitHub Repository. Unzip and run the executable (MoveToDesktop.exe).

Run as Administrator (Highly Recommended): This allows the utility to move privileged tasks and windows like the Task Manager.

Set to launch automatically by adding a shortcut of the executable to your Windows startup folder (Win + R, type shell:startup, and paste the shortcut). Core Features & Shortcut Keys

Once the app is running in your system tray, you can immediately bypass the mouse and manage your workspace entirely from your keyboard:

Move Windows Instantly: Press Win + Alt + Left Arrow or Win + Alt + Right Arrow to push your currently active window to the adjacent virtual desktop.

The System Menu Interface: If you right-click the title bar of any open window, you will see a new “Move to Desktop” option added directly to the context menu, letting you pick a specific desktop numbers.

Automatic Cleanup: The utility automatically closes and deletes empty virtual desktops when you move the last remaining window out of them, keeping your workspace uncluttered. Customizing Your Shortcuts
